Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania to Andrea Gardner and Scott Kingsley Swift, and has a younger brother named Austin.
In fourth grade Swift won a national poetry contest, and later sang at the U.S. Open Tennis tournament. At twelve she was taught how to play guitar chords and wrote her first song Lucky You. At fourteen they relocated to Nashville, and her first major show at the Bloomsburg Fair was well-received. Swift was the youngest staff songwriter of the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house at fourteen, and after her performance at The Bluebird Café Scott Borchetta signed Swift to his Big Machine Records.
The debut single Tim McGraw was released in mid-2006 which earned Swift a win at the 2007 CMT Music Awards for Breakthrough Video of the year.
